So I might have misjudged this place, but my boyfriend’s and my first and last time eating there was mediocre. The sashimi that we ordered was fresh but the atmosphere was too “young-professional” and expensive for our tastes. We probably have to try this one again, but I just like Hibino so much more.

I live on the west side so I had to make a post about Riverside Park. Just a short walk from my dorm (you can enter the park around 68th street), the park is right on the Hudson River and under the Henry Hudson Parkway. Everything is manicured and picturesque with runners and bikers.

We walked down this long pier that stretched into the river just as the sun was setting behind New Jersey. Afterward, we ate at the outdoor Pier i Café which was decent food, although way overpriced. The views from the cafe were unparalleled, which made up for it.

Hibino Teriyaki Chicken

So my boyfriend Rich and I visit Hibino whenever we’re in the sushi “mood” in Brooklyn. When we first stumbled upon the restaurant we were instantly impressed. The vibe inside was so “Brooklyn”-esque, but not quite overrun with hipsters, which I liked. I ordered the chicken teriyaki which was made with free-range chicken that was so moist and fall off the bone delicious. Another night we ordered platefuls of sushi and sake and were impressed by nearly everything we were given. Definitely not cheap, but still our “go-to” sushi place.

Ajisai Japanese Fusion Inc

I went to Ajisai one friday night with my boyfriend, Rich, another couple, and my roommate, Meg. We saw on Yelp that it was relatively close to my apartment and moderately priced, so we decided to try it out as part of our never-ending quest to find good sushi. My quest, at least, might have ended with Ajisai.

The atmosphere was modern and clean. The sushi was incredibly fresh and creative, and, as the reviews had advertised, moderately priced (big selling point for this broke college freshman). I ordered the sweet potato roll, the “Manhattan” roll (tuna and avocado topped with yellowtail, jalapeño, onion, and citrus sauce), and salmon sushi. I finished off everything I ordered, as well as some of my boyfriend’s shrimp and asparagus roll.

I would truly recommend Ajisai to anyone in the theater district looking for a place to eat.
